American rapper and songwriter, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, known professionally as Cardi B came through with this groovy jam she labeled “Up”.
The song was teased through social media when Cardi first teased an announcement on February 1, 2021, before following up one day later with the announcement of the single’s release and the reveal of the song’s cover artwork.
The biggest inspiration for this song. I wanted a more hood song. I feel like my last song was too sexy, Offset. I feel like this is more like of an Atlanta thing, I don’t know, a Georgia thing. He kept saying “up and stuck” and I’m like “oh shit, I keep saying up and a stuck out of nowhere because that’s something that I started saying this year. He always say it, but I feel like this year it’s just like more and more, so I’m like, alright, this is some gangsta shit and that’s what I like and that’s why I wanted to do something more gangsta, more cocky.
The song which was officially released on February 5, 2021 was produced by DJ SwanQo, Sean Island & Yung Dza.
